19 of the best murals from the Vancouver Mural Festival
While visiting my bestie in Vancouver, I started looking for things to do while she was at work. We had already done the most important things - hiked and eaten ice cream (multiple times), so I looked for something to stir another passion - street art.
A quick google search and I found the Vancouver Mural Festival (VMF). According to the website, the VMF's "...events and public art installations serve as catalysts for addressing many of the socio-cultural issues facing our city and artistic communities."
Since I won't be around for this year's mural festival, I decided to take a (3 hour) walk around the Mount Pleasant neighborhood and check out the street art that was still up from the 2016, and 2017 festivals. I picked up a map to the mural festival at Kafka’s Coffee (2525 Main St) and used it to guide me around.
As you can see from the pictures, the city is really full of the most beautiful street art. The first piece I saw was the Bull and as a Taurus, it immediately spoke to me.
If you get a chance, visit the Vancouver Mural Festival and see the artists at work. The 2018 dates are August 6th - 11th, and the 2019 dates are August 5th - 10th , 2019. Here’s a link to the mural map to help you search for any murals you want.
