Five Books To Help You Kick Ass In The New Year

2021 is yours. 2020 is over.

I write for people who want to quit their job and travel the world, or even quit their job and live a more meaningful life where they are. And while quitting to live a life of leisure sounds A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, it takes quite a bit of focus, work, and planning.

So here are my top five book recommendations to help you live the life you want, the life you design. If career breaks or sabbaticals are in your future, these are the books you should be checking for and checking out.

  1. Write It Down And Make It Happen by Henriette Klauser - This is one of my go to recommendations for everybody. The power of naming and claiming the things you want in life can never be understated. With this book you’ll do exercises that help you manifest the life you want.

  2. Deep Work by Cal Newport - Newport knew he had a hit with this one, and I hate and love him for it at the same time. You see, I’m one of those multi-taskers that is writing a blog post, checking my email, and watching Netflix all at the same time. But even though I don’t want to do it, I can’t deny the power and the efficiency that comes from focusing all my attention on one task. If you need to be convinced to only do one thing at a time, this is the book for you.

  3. Fire Starter Sessions by Danielle LaPorte - I’ve been a Danielle LaPorte junkie for a while now, but this book is definitely one of my favorites. If you’re looking for the inspiration to take a big leap, this is the one for you. This book will unleash the beast inside and get the best from you.

  4. Atomic Habits by James Clear - This is the best book I’ve read in the past few years. Hands down! No question! If you only pick one book out of the list let this be the one. If you want to cultivate the life of your dreams, this is the one. If you’ve had goals you’re not hitting, this is the one. Clear lays out why the most important things in our everyday life are the things we do regularly.

  5. The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron - Whenever I’m feeling blah or need some inspiration this is the book I turn to. Cameron’s exercises will change your life in the most meaningful way possible. Your life will be different if you read this book. Your life will be better if you read this book. She will inspire inner creativity you may not ever know you have.

Check out these books and catapult yourself into action and progress in 2021. Your career break inspiration could be in the pages of these books.

Happy Reading and as always Happy Planning
