How To Avoid Baggage Fees On Spirit Airlines

Did I tell you about my flight back from Aruba?  I know I wrote about it on Facebook, but I don't remember if I mentioned it here.

It was the middle of March, and the US had just started talking about shutting things down.  So, of course, when we were facing a pandemic, folks wanted to start getting real funny about it on the flight.

Basically, some guy started sharing his bottle of liquor with other passengers (they all took it to the head 🤢), joked about having Covid-19,  open-mouth fake coughed all over the place, got in a huge argument with multiple other passengers, and basically carried on until the flight attendant told him she would kick him off if he spoke to anyone else on the flight.

Yes, all this happened and we were still at the gate.

And yes, he was drunk.

And yes, this was Spirit Airlines.

Spirit has always gotten such a bad rap, and I had never tried to fly them before, but I was looking for an ultra-cheap vacation so I took the chance.

Was it a premium experience? No!

Was it an inexpensive way to get where I was going? Yes!

Part of the trick with budget airlines like Spirit (and Frontier and a number of smaller airlines in other countries) is they make you pay for E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G.

And since the only reason I was flying Spirit was to fly on the cheap, I sure didn't want to pay their $50 fee for bringing a carry-on bag.

AND I DIDN'T!

I figured out how to pack in a way that allowed me to board without getting charged any baggage fees by Spirit Airlines.

And I made this short (Under 5 minutes) video for you about how I did it.

Click on my face below and give it a watch.  Whether you've taken a Spirit flight or not before, this will get you ready for your next one, or any trip on any budget airlines.
