Can you imagine quitting your job to cover the world. I tell my story here, but in case you think I’m special or different and YOU couldn’t do the same thing, here are 12 women who did the same thing. All of these women took career breaks to live their best lives around the world, while leaving any stress and drama at home.

Amber has been on a quest to live her best life for a decade. Her sabbatical was an offshoot of that. She realized that she wasn’t happy and she did something about it, traveling around the world with just her backpack.

Adalia was tired of teaching in the US, and looking to move abroad. She packed up her 15 year old daughter and moved to teach in Honduras. Between teaching there, in Kuwait and China, she decided to take a career break in Mexico City.

Jacey Wright was a regular traveler, who still felt like a sabbatical was what she needed for her life. She saved enough to spend months out of the country, while still maintaining her home.

She had previously taken a sabbatical, so she knew what it was like to travel the world exploring on her own terms, and decided instead of taking a sabbatical, she would become an expat. Originally intending to move to Malaysia, she ended up living her best life in South Africa.

Kenya Ransey was in education, until she realized she had no time to pursue her passions. She made time for herself by taking a sabbatical, during which she wrote and published her first book, Girl Talk.

Danica Nelson started working for a cellular phone company, selling phones in the mall at 17. Eleven years later, she was still with the company, having moved her way up to Senior Marketing Communications Manager. Danica looked through her company’s HR manual and realized she could take personal leave. She’s using that leave to get away from the brutal Toronto winters, and work on her passion projects.

Can you have too much of a good thing? Jamye loved her job, but she still became burnt out. To combat the stress she was under she took a break and traveled the US and abroad until she felt like coming back home.

Ever go on vacation and come back to angry coworkers? Alyson did. It got so bad that they flipped it and called her an angry black woman, just for showing up and doing her job. Realizing that there was no way to win that battle, Alyson decided she would treat herself to time off. After that really stressful time, her career break allowed her to regroup and be happier than ever.

Wanda took a sabbatical then moved back to the states when it was over. She soon realized America was not for her, and moved overseas. She talks about her life overseas and dating in Asia in this video.

The last 2 years have been one BIG adventure for Pat. She's danced on a glacier in Patagonia and jumped off of Victoria Falls Bridge in Zimbabwe. She decided that retirement was a time to live life to the fullest, and she lives up to that daily.

Courtney visited 26 countries in 7 months...while working part-time remotely. AND it was her first time traveling solo! She’s a prime example of just doing it!
